Last night Karla and I decided to watch a movie since it was drizzling outside. We first ate dinner in Tong Yang ( a good time for Shabu-Shabu!) and then headed off to the cinemas in SM Megamall. By the way it’s my first time to watch a movie there. I was amazed because the theater was so big. Hehe. We decided to watch this movie since we planned on watching it while we saw the movie trailer.

Brendan Frasier is always associated with adventure-historical movies. Probably it started back in the 90′s when he did Encino Man wherein he portrayed the role of a cave man who was taught to become ‘cultured’ ( as what lay people would say). His next movie will be the Mummy, I think this time it will be with the Terracota Warriors in China.

Overall, I think that the movie is kinda geeky. Well I am not saying it was boring, it was actually interesting. The story is based on the actual book “Journey to the Center of the Earth” written by Jules Verne. Brendan Frasier is a  scientist who is mainly interested in pursuing the theories of his brother formulated about having ‘another world within the world’. He then begins to have an exploration together with his nephew ( son of his brother) in Iceland. They accidentally got trapped inside a cave together with their beautiful guide and the adventure and exploration actually began. The adventure they had actually proved that everything that was written by his brother is true. While watching the movie, I felt that I was in a Universal Studios ride such as Jurassic Park or Indiana Jones. I just can’t get over how Brendan Frasier screams. Hehe.

This was a blow by blow account of my experience with the Eraserheads while they were shooting the “Maskara” video for the Carbonsteroxide ( their last) album. I tried to find this in the Circus mailing list, glad it’s still there… This was back in 2001, I was in 4th year high school then. Neneng pa. lolz. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the negative of the pictures taken here, jolog pa nun eh, no digicam yet. Hehe. In the video, I was part of the “party people” and one of the victims of the “face snatcher”.

(this is for Maskara video) we badlly needed that interview kasi yun lang ang time namin na makakapanood ng gig nila at isusubmit na sya. so bahala na. and then we agreed na sumama na lang para d masayang ang pagpunta namen. so, we took a cab. the 3 of us, went into a cab with buddy and the rest of us, sa isang taxi. convoy kme. so ayon, chika with buddy inside the cab. it was a kileg moment for us kasi sheks, kasabay namin sa taxi ang bassist ng eheads! so ayon, we were talking and then sabi ni buddy, maybe pwede kyong umextra sa video namen. kse kelangan ng maraming tao kasi party scene. and then, i told him na is it really ok na nandun kme? baka naman dyahe eh. so ayon, nakarating na kme ng white plains.

2:00 am. ok, a house in white plains, pumasok na kme. pinakilala kme ni buddy to some people sabi niya, here’s st.scho. ( sch namen) ayon, pinakilala rin kme kay dianne ( ely’s girlfriend then…) and then the director, si marie. it was her house. so pagpasok namen sa may loob na, buddy told ely na ” we have an interview pla e. st scho.” and then i was the first person to enter the room. then ely said to me, ” uy!” so ayon. buddy told the rest of the guys that we have an interveiw with them. so ayon, raimund was talking to us,sabi niya, ” you have to join in the video or else, you cannot have the interview…” so bale, binlack- mail pa kme. so ayon. we started the interview with the 3 of them muna, raimund, marcus and buddy. ely
can’t come kasi he’s co-directing the video so sobrang busy siya. the interview was fun tawa lng kme ng tawa. serious questions tapos biglang patawa, serious, patawa, patawa. mostly puro patawa eh. ilalagay ko na lang dito yung mga
questions and their answers kapag narinig ko na ulit yung tape. oo nga pala, marc abaya was there also, kasama siya sa video. sabi samen ni lemon na yung mga tao dun na ksama sa video, hinatak lng nila sa up bahay ng alumni, there was a gig kasi. anyway ayon, after the interview, we waited for an hour
tapos ely explained to us what we’ll do sa video. so he said that the eheads will be playing and then there are people having fun kasi nga party ito. sabi niya it;s not a rave party, just an orfinary party. d raw sila papansinin o titingnan. so habang nagtetake na, nandun kme sa tabi ni marcus (of course, kalat kme ). ako yung mismong katabi ni marcus at nangungulit! sabi ko sa kanya, sabi ng director, d raw kita pansinin kaya wag ka makulit! 3 times namin ginawa yung party scene, isang original speed ng kanta tapos fast version and then the slo mo. tapos non, akala namen yun lang ang gagawin. so ineexpect na namin na uuwi na kme. nangako si buddy samen na ihahatid kme ulit sa Kampo kasi dun nagpasundo ang friend ko. so ayon hindi pa pala yun lang. meron pa pala. nakita kme ni ely and sabi samen,” alis na kyo? d pwede may isa pang scene. wag muna kayo umuwi nandito na rin kayo mamaya na.” it was 3;30 am na non. ok, next paragraph na.

ok, naghintay lng kme dun, naghintay uli kme ng another hour and a half kasi shinushoot si dianne for the scene. ( secret na yung role niya). tapos kme naman, nilalagyan ng face stockings. ( secret na rin kung baket) ayon, so mejo inaantok na kmeng lahat pero si buddy ineentertain kme. he made sure
na ok kame. parang siya ang kuya namen. bait sobra. si raimund naman, nang-aasar lang. hehehe. kulit! ayon, we shot the scene na with the ppl. tapos ayon, tapos na. mga 5 tyms namin inulit yung scene kasi inaayos eh. tapos tapos na, buddy promised us na kapag tapos na kme, magtetake na
kme ng picture with the eheads ( kasi kelangan may ibigay kme ng pic ) ayon, dinelegate ni buddy sina ely and the rest of the guys para magpic.

5:00 am we said goodbye to marcus, raimund, and ely tapos they said thank you to us. d kme nagbabay k buddy kasi kasama namin siya pauwi, ihahatid pa niya kme. tapos sumakay kme sa car ni buddy, ( all the 7 of us)

There’s so much blind items buzzing around cyberspace about the so-called “Conspiracy Reunion Theory“, now it’s been confirmed THE ERASERHEADS WILL BE REUNITING FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY. So, the people ( or person?) who has been commenting on my blogpost is saying the truth. Read the article of Ricky Lo in Philippine Star. This will be at the CCP Grounds and it will be on August 30, 2008 ( VIIIXXXMMVIII) , as what ‘anonymous’ have been saying in my previous blogpost. I will definitely be there whatever happens. Circus, the official Eraserheads mailing list is active again, woohoo! This is not a speculation anymore, it’s has been confirmed. Now the only thing I need to know now is to where and how to get those tickets. wahhhh!

Pedicab has just launched their sophomore album entitled “Shinji Ilabas mo na Ang Helicopter” outside the Pablo Gallery in Cubao Expo ( formerly Marikina Shoe Expo) last night. I woke up early for this event even though I have a shift at 1 am just to be able to attend this super anticipated gig! I was with my rocker *ehem* Karla last night and we had one hell of a night. We actually arrived past 8 pm ( since it was being advertised in NU 107.5 that the gig will start at 8 pm). It’s better to be early than be late. Well it paid off because we were right infront of the band. This is advantageous for Karla so that she could take pictures of the band performing.

The set up was right infront of Pablo Gallery, actually the sidewalk sort of became the stage. We’re actually infront of the band ( as in eye level). There were tents there so in case it rains, we’re fully covered. There were also lcd projectors for the video backdrops. Of course, a gig will not be complete without some booze. There’s a booth selling beer, cigarettes and Tanduay ( since it’s one of its sponsors). Also, there were Pedicab shirts being sold and of course the album is being sold there as well.

The gig started at 9 pm, Taken by Cars performed first. They performed 5 songs from their debut album. Sara Marco sang the first verse of Pedicab’s single ” Ang Pusa Mo” as an intro to their first song. That actually sounded so lesbo, lolz . The next band that performed was Chilitees. I’m not really familiar with them, I only knew one song from them which was “Sama Na” ( they didn’t even perform it last night). All I can say is that the vocalist has a nice voice.

Then Pedicab came out from the gallery, they were all wearing white long sleeved polos which has words painted on it. When you form the words into a sentence, it actually becomes the album title “Shinji, Ilabas Mo Na Ang Helicopter”. Those polos were the ones they wore on the album sleeve. While the band was performing Tado suddenly blended with the crowd and everyone was surprised that he’s there. The band sang 13 songs, here’s the set list.

After the set Karla and I left Cubao Expo, I still need to go to work. Left there about 11:30 pm. From what I heard from Dylan ( the NU 107.5 dj), there will be a dj who will be playing together with Diego Castillo.

I was actually listening to the album while I was doing this, and the songs were really good. My favorite tracks are: “Ang Pusa Mo”, “FX”, “Simulan Mo Na”, “Deafening Silence”, “Good to Go” and “Deep Eyes”. Buy their album, it’s really worth it. They still have the dance-punk sound. It’s really better when you watch them live.

‘Pregnant man’ gives birth to girl — reports

LOS ANGELES — A US man who was born a woman before undergoing gender realignment surgery has given birth to a baby girl, US media reported Thursday.

Thomas Beatie, who is legally male but decided to keep his female sex organs during chest reconstruction surgery and testosterone therapy, attracted worldwide attention in April after revealing his pregnancy.

The 34-year-old gave birth to a baby girl at a hospital in Bend, Oregon, ABC News reported, without providing further details.

Beatie, who sports a beard, was dubbed the ‘pregnant man’ after appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s television talkshow to discuss his pregnancy.

“I feel it’s not a male or female desire to have a child. It’s a human need. I’m a person and I have the right to have a biological child,” Beatie told the chat show queen.

Beatie’s unusual situation first became public when he wrote an article in the leading US gay magazine The Advocate in March, entitled “Labor of Love.”

“To our neighbors, my wife, Nancy, and I don’t appear in the least unusual,” he wrote, explaining that his wife was unable to have a child after undergoing a hysterectomy. So he chose to become pregnant by artificial insemination, he said.

“Our situation sparks legal, political, and social unknowns,” Beatie wrote, adding the couple had experienced opposition from health care professionals, friends and family.

One doctor refused to treat the couple, after consulting an ethics board.

“How does it feel to be a pregnant man? Incredible. Despite the fact that my belly is growing with a new life inside me, I am stable and confident being the man that I am,” Beatie wrote.

Beatie was correct, gender isn’t important if one wants to have a child of his/her own. Being a transsexual or being part of the LGBT per se should not be a hindrance for the right to procreate. There are different ways of obtaining a child. Let’s not think only of procreating through consummation between a man and a woman. This is liberating in the sense that it deviates from the Victorian view of consummation as a prerequisite for procreation.

If you would be interested, you may want to watch “What Makes a Family“, an indie film about a Lesbian family. Popular stars in the film are Brook Shields and Whoopie Goldberg. This movie is a great way for you to understand that being a family doesn’t only involve blood relations. What is important is how children are being brought up. Bigotry of people around us only aggravates the situation. It’s not correlating that if a child is born with gay/ lesbian parents they will definitely be ‘bad’ kids. Actually most studies show that children brought up by ‘gay’ parents are far better kids than those brought up by ‘straight’ parents.

backed by FILharmoniKa, an orchestra under the baton of Gerard Salonga. It
will be premiered this afternoon in Jam 88.3. I think RJ will play it
tomorrow afternoon also. NU 107 will (hopefully) play this starting Monday
or Tuesday.

reworkings of popular pinoy rock songs.

Karla, Baby and I attended the Taste of Beauty event of Pond’s, this is for their Age Miracle line. There were lots of bouquet of roses around and lots of pretty ladies around as well. I was concerned that I was underdressed I wish I have worn a much better outfit. Well at least I wore make up to compensate that loss. Lolz. Anyway, there were lots of bloggers ( we actually got to meet Jane ) there and lots of free food and drinks ( no beers for last night, only red and white wines). It was a Friday night and I have work at 1 am so I can’t really be drunk. I just drank a glass of red wine.

There were different games wherein the guests would be able to participate. I was included in the first game, “shagidy shagidy sa popo”. We were all grouped based on the rose that we got during registration wherein there are quotable quotes attached on each rose. I got “You’re all worth waking up for” ( that’s from what movie?!!). During the registration we also got a free 7 day trial pack of the Pond’s Age Miracle. And as for being a participant in that game, I was able to get a consolation prize which is the Pond’s Age Miracle Daily Restructuring Cream ( which is actually worth Php 699.00, I just checked it at Watson’s today). We stayed there until the event was over and then headed Karla and I headed to Ayala, ate at Mcdonald’s ( as for me I also had coffee) and waited until 12:45 am before I go up to my office.

As I was reading through my inbox, I stumbled upon a message in the Eraserheads mailing list… The Eraserheads Conspiracy Reunion Theory. I suddenly got excited since I am fangirl of the Eraserheads. It made me curious so I clicked on the link.

CLUE or Sign number 3: In the NU 107.5′s daily countdown, all of the songs of wherein the respective bands of Eheads members are included in the countdown.

It might be a coincidence but today, Markus Highway’s “American Gurl” was number 1 while Sandwich’s “Betamax” and Pupil’s “Disconnection Notice” are also part of the top 7. Hmmm.

CLUE or Sign number 4: The University Student Council in UP Diliman wants to have an Eraserheads reunion gig in UP for the centennial.
I was able to speak with the current USC president and was asking me if it would possible for a reunion gig. He would even let the UP President talk to them to make it possible, and she’s also willing to speak with them about it. I doubt it will happen but anyhow, they’ll still give it a shot. Well, they’re from UP after all even though they did not graduate their respective degrees.

Even though they won’t reunite this year, that’s fine. I can wait.

After my shift yesterday, I just did some errands for work ( which isn’t finished yet.. hay) ate Margherita pizza at Green Tomato in Philam Building. After the pizza, Karla and I hung out at Krispy Kreme Ayala and used their wifi for free. We were actually waiting for some of our friends then afterwards we went straight to the Coke Zero Bloggers’ Party at Taste Asia in SM Hypermart ( in SM Mall of Asia). For that party, we were now with John and Baby.

We enjoyed the party coz there were free food ( buffet type), beer and of course Coke Zero. I got to bring home a case ( 24 cans) of Coke Zero just because I was there. Cool isn’t it? Well I didn’t actually took advantage of the free Coke Zero, I took advantage of the free beer! I already drank 3 bottles of beer before leaving.

The night is still young so after the Coke Zero Party, we went straight to Saguijo for the 4th anniversary gig. Now we were with Rona this time. We arrived in Saguijo at about 11 pm and the whole Guijo St. was filled with cars parked on the sides and people sitting on the gutter. The entrance fee was higher that night ( usually it’s just Php 150.00, for the anniv night it was Php 200.00) but it’s ok because it’s the anniv night . We couldn’t get inside so we sneaked in first with the crowd outside ( near the window) and was able to catch Pedicab perform. After Pedicab, we went out and hung out first at the restaurant opposite Saguijo which was Breadbox Cafe. We took a chance again, tried to sneak in the crowd while Greyhoundz was performing and we were able to get through the door! Well, it was really a struggle but it was only Karla and I who were able to sneak inside. We moshed in the crowd ( about 2 songs). I just missed moshing in a gig, the last time was when I was at the UP fair during my college days. It’s good that while moshing Karla was also protecting me from the violent moshers. After being in the mosh pit, we left and headed straight home with my case of Coke Zero :p .

Then today, I just got home from Gateway Mall. We first ate dinner at Bellini’s. This restaurant by the way was one of the locations for John Lloyd and Bea movie entitled “One More Chance”. After eating dinner, we watched “Wanted” ( last full show). The movie was really great, I loved it. Too bad that the movie was stopped twice due to power interruption.

By the way, it’s our 7th monthsary . Happy monthsary, mwah!
